Macon Rescue Mission is getting an early Christmas present.
Five Star Automotive Group is donating a 2013 Nissan NV2500 cargo van to help the organization gear up for a busy holiday season, according to a news release.
The official announcement is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday.
On a daily basis throughout the year, the Mission relies on a cargo van to serve the needs of our programs, Charlie Cantrell, Macon Rescue Missions chairman, said in the release. The final quarter brings additional van loads of holiday donations such as turkeys and non-perishable food items used to serve ... our community.
Cantrell is co-owner of Five Star.
The van also will be used throughout the year to collect donated clothing, household goods and small furniture that is sold at the Macon Rescue Missions thrift store on Napier Avenue.
