Trivia tournament to benefit Ronald McDonald House

When parents are coping with the hospitalization of a child, they need to know where their next meal is coming from and where they will be sleeping.

That’s where the Ronald McDonald House comes in.

The Macon organization relies on community assistance to provide such necessities -- about 10 percent of its budget comes from third party fund raisers, said Julie Wilkerson, development director for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia.

That’s where events, such as the Quiz 4 Kids trivia bowl, come in.

The first-time community event will pit 18 teams -- mainly area high schools -- against one another in a trivia challenge, much like the popular game show Family Feud, said Steve Rodgers, event organizer.

The tournament begins at 11 a.m. Sept. 14 at the Warner Robins Civic Center. Several Middle Georgia communities are participating in the event, which is projected to raise $10,000 to $15,000 for the Ronald McDonald House.
