WARNER ROBINS -- The first candidate vying for the council seat Mike Brashear abandoned last week has qualified.

Tim Thomas, 50, signed up for the race Tuesday morning, the first day of qualifying for Post 4. The seat opened when Brashear qualified for the mayor’s race.

Thomas, a local businessman, has said he chose to seek Post 4 because he did well in the district when he ran for Post 2, at-large, two years ago. He said teamwork among mayor and council is needed to strengthen qualities that industries look for when locating in new cities.

Qualifying for Post 4 closes Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
