A man carrying a dog was hit by a Macon police car late Friday night on Eisenhower Parkway.

The 21-year-old was walking in the middle of the left lane while the unidentified officer changed lanes approaching Bloomfield Road, according to a Macon police news release.

“The officer was unable to swerve in time to avoid the male,” the release stated.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia where he remained in stable condition, according to the Saturday morning release.

The dog died.

The officer was also checked for injuries and blood was drawn as part of the investigation.
