A second former Central State Prison guard pleaded guilty Monday to carrying alcohol across the guard line and violating his oath of office.
Nazon EoNe Johnson, 22, was sentenced to four years on probation during a hearing in Bibb County Superior Court.
Bethany Begnaud, Johnsons lawyer, said Johnson was getting off work Sept. 22, 2012, when his friend and fellow guard, 23-year-old Paris Dewayne Watson, asked him to retrieve his lunch from his car.
He didnt know there was alcohol inside, Begnaud said. This is a circumstance that could have happened to anyone.
Another guard spotted Johnson bringing in the bag and smelled alcohol inside a soft drink bottle and a sports drink bottle, said John Regan, a Bibb County prosecutor.
Watson, who pleaded guilty to the same charges last week, admitted the alcohol was for his consumption while on duty.
Johnson, who was sentenced as a first offender, must also surrender his Peace Officer Standards and Training certification, pay a $500 fine and pay $500 in attorney fees. Watson received the same sentence last week.
