Two men both shot in the upper torso Sunday showed up at two different hospital emergency rooms about the same time.
Raymond Cox, 25, of Cordele, and Octavious Trice, 24, of Fort Valley, both were later taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where they were listed in serious condition Monday, police said.
Police believe the men were shot in the parking lot of the Old English apartment complex in the 900 block of Orange Street in Fort Valley. Police were summoned to the complex about 5:30 p.m. Sunday by a 911 call of shots fired but found no one there.
Cox showed up shortly afterward at the The Medical Center of Peach County and Trice at Houston Medical Center. Hospital representatives called police.
Fort Valley Public Safety Director Lawrence Spurgeon said the incident remains under investigation, and charges have yet to be determined.
He said police have identified potential witnesses and are trying to establish a timeline and motive.
