Macon police credit the involvement of citizens and quick action of officers with the capture of three alleged burglars Thursday.
At about 12:35 a.m. a report of a burglary in progress led officers to the 4400 block of Ashland Drive, according to a release. They were given a description of the suspects and vehicle and began searching.
Within 45 minutes an officer spotted a vehicle and three suspects matching the description at Melodys Magic Mart on Rocky Creek Road.
Some of the stolen items were found in the vehicle, according to the release, and the remainder were found after further investigation.
Candy Gerrea Ponder, 23, and Quanterio Zurrell Moses, 17, were charged with burglary. A 16-year-old male was also arrested with them but the release did not list charges for him.
The public can be incredibly helpful and important in providing descriptions of suspects and vehicles and other information pertinent to incidents, Maj. Robert Grabowski, who oversees Property Investigations, said in the release. The quick apprehension of these three suspects is a great example of teamwork - excellent teamwork and the involvement of citizens who value public safety.
