Michele Treptow, director of communications for the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter in Perry, announced her retirement Friday, effective Dec. 31, according to a news release.

Treptow has worked at the fairgrounds for 23 years.

“She’s done a great job. We’re happy for her,” said Randy Moore, executive director.

Moore said Treptow told him about two months ago that she wanted to retire because she promised him a six-month notice.

Treptow didn’t want a big fuss made about her retirement.

“She’s earned it,” Moore said.

Taking her place the first of the year will be Stacy Campbell.

Campbell is currently the president and CEO of the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce.

She has served in the role since April 2012.

Moore met Campbell five years ago and said he’s been following her career since then. She was his top choice for replacing Treptow.

“With Stacy we have a known quantity,” said Moore. “We’re excited about her joining us.”

The chamber will begin the search for a new president early next year, a release states.
