Unemployment rates in Macon and Warner Robins dropped in July.
Metro Macons unemployment rate dropped to 9.5 percent, which was down three-tenths of a percentage point from June and down six-tenths of a point from July 2012, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.
Metro Athens had the lowest area jobless rate of 6.9 percent, and metro Dalton and the Heart of Georgia-Altamaha region tied at 12.3 percent for the highest rate, according to a Labor Department news release.
In metro Warner Robins, the unemployment rate sank to 8.1 percent in July, down from 8.3 percent in June. In July 2012, the rate was 8.2 percent.
In the overall Middle Georgia region, the unemployment rate dropped to 9.5 percent, down from 9.8 percent in June and down from 9.9 percent in July 2012, according to the release.
