The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office released more details Wednesday about the deputy who was suspended for his actions over the weekend.

Deputy Scott Richard Bruce was involved in an altercation about 2 a.m. Sunday at Country Rock Bar and Grill in Spalding County, according to a Crawford sheriff’s office news release.

Bruce, who was hired to work in the sheriff’s office in May, was charged by Spalding County authorities with obstructing law enforcement and disorderly conduct, the news release stated.

Bruce remains on suspension pending the completion of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office internal investigation.

Bruce, who was not on duty during the incident, apparently had a disagreement with another person at the bar before the altercation, the news release stated.
