An additional count of murder has been filed against a 23-year-old Macon woman charged in the death of her grandmother.
Bibb County grand jurors indicted Keirra Lashon Thomas on Tuesday on charges of felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault and cruelty to children, according to an indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court.
Thomas allegedly punched 62-year-old Shirley Green in the head and kicked her in the stomach on Feb. 20 at the Tuxedo Road home where she and Green lived.
Green, who was knocked unconscious, was placed on life support at The Medical Center of Central Georgia and later died.
Thomas also violently shook her 2-year-old daughter and placed her in a choke hold until a family member intervened, according to the indictment and Bibb County Magistrate Court arrest warrants.
She initially was jailed Feb. 20 on aggravated assault and cruelty to children charges.
The assault charge later was upgraded to murder. Tuesdays indictment adds a second count of murder.
Thomas is being held at the county jail on $82,000 bond, according to jail records.
