Hutchings earns honor from medical association
The National Medical Association presented Dr. Warren S. Hutchings with the NMA 2013 Practitioner of the Year Award recently at its annual convention in Toronto. Hutchings received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and his medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine.
He is currently the medical director for the Mercer University Student Health Center and is an assistant professor of family medicine at Mercer University School of Medicine.
This award honors those who have devoted their lives to helping others through health care.
PlantersFIRST hires new president/CEO
PlantersFIRST in Cordele has appointed William L. Daniel as president and chief executive officer. Daniel is a bank executive with more than 40 years of experience. Since 1972, he has been involved in two successful start-up banks as well as larger regional banks.
He has been the past chairman of the Conyers-Rockdale County Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of the Rockdale County Development Authority, past president of the Rotary Club of Conyers, as well as past president of the Rockdale County Council for the Arts.
Bulloch gets Georgia Farm Bureaus Commodity Award
Retired Georgia Sen. John Bulloch, who championed agriculture as a state legislator for 14 years, received the 2013 Georgia Farm Bureau Commodity Award during the bureaus Commodity Conference on Aug. 1 at the University of Georgias College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Tifton Campus.
The award, one of bureaus highest honors, is given annually to honor an individual who has supported and promoted Georgia agriculture. Bulloch retired from the Georgia Senate in 2012 after serving in elected positions for 34 years.
Bulloch attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and returned to his native Thomas County, where he became the fourth generation to farm his familys land, growing pecans and row crops. He has received numerous honors for his public service. In 1984, he was named Man of the Year by the Thomas County Chamber of Commerce. In 1986, he received the Farmer of the Year Award from the Thomas County Kiwanis Club.
The Thomas County Chamber of Commerce awarded Bulloch its Lifetime Achievement Award this year.
B&D Industrial expands into south Florida
Macon-based B&D Industrial, a regional industrial distribution company and solutions provider to original equipment manufacturers and companies with maintenance repair and operations and automation needs, is expanding its sales and service territory by opening a new office in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. It will officially open Sept. 15.
The companys other Florida offices are in Tampa, Ocala and Jacksonville.
Brian Dyals, regional manager for B&D Industrial, will oversee the branch opening. Suzanne McGowan, local operations manager for B&D Industrial, will oversee the branchs ongoing operations.
McNeal Insurance Agency marks 45 years
McNeal Insurance Agency is celebrating 45 years in business. The agency started in 1968 with one employee and one policy. It currently has 25 employees and writes more than 8,000 policies for customers in Georgia and the Southeast.
The main office is located at 1717 Russell Parkway, Warner Robins, with a branch office in Byron.
McNeal Insurance Agency is an independent insurance agency representing many insurance companies and specializes in home, auto, business, bonds, life, health and employee-benefits insurance.
