Middle Georgians will be entertained and inspired when Floetry Night returns to the Douglass Theatre on Friday night.
Floetry night is a Christian/inspirational variety show featuring comedy, poetry, singing, dancing, hip-hop and rap, said Shon Thomas, a member of the group that organizes the event, Gospel Experience.
Atlanta comedian Troy Huff will host the show. Huff has worked with the Chris Tucker Foundation, which gives away toys and bikes to underprivileged children at Christmas, and he has performed with Tye Tribbett, the Pace Sisters and many more gospel artists.
Huff got his start making his friends laugh in high school, but after school, his life went down a troubled path, he said. He found faith, and then after being shot twice, reconnected with it. He started doing open mic shows and honed his comedy in places such as Tuckers Comedy Cafe.
Award-winning gospel artist Monica Lisa Stevenson also will perform, as will local comedian Lisa Mills, of New Hope International, and a variety of other local talents. The show is family-friendly and will even feature a kids segment, Huff said.
