The final person arrested and charged in the July shooting at the Zodiac Lounge had his first appearance Wednesday in front of a Bibb County magistrate.
Jimmy Lee Scott III, 29, had no attorney present at the hearing and was informed that he would need a different attorney than anyone representing the other defendants in the case.
Scott was charged with criminal intent to commit murder and criminal participation in street gang activity for his alleged part in the July 5 shooting at the Macon nightclub that led to the death of Jammoni Bland, 17. Deion Davis, 21, was beaten and shot eight times during the incident, while two additional people were shot.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Task Force arrested Scott on Tuesday morning in Sandy Springs. They were able to track him down because of a tip to Macon Regional CrimeStoppers.
A surveillance camera recorded Scott participating in a group beating of Davis before he was shot, according to the arrest warrant police issued.
Scott asked the magistrate for a commitment hearing, which is scheduled for Aug. 28 at 1:30 p.m.
Macon police charged nine people, including Scott, in the shooting, but charges later were dropped against Jarrett Durand Taylor, 27. Three of those arrested have been charged with murder.
