Cherry Blossom Festival holding art competition

The Cherry Blossom Festival is holding an art competition to design the 2014 festival’s official artwork.

The competition is open to artists who live in the state. Honorariums will be awarded for print art ($1,500), plate and mug art ($500), and pin art ($500). This is the first time the festival has held an open competition for the official artwork.

The deadline for submissions is Sept. 20, and applicants must complete online registration at Artwork should be submitted to the festival’s office at 794 Cherry St.

The winners will be selected by a jury and announced Oct. 4.
