Macon officers scuffle while on call, one resigns

On Saturday, July 28, during the early morning hours, Officer Derek Uebel responded to a burglary call at the Family Dollar located at 800 Pio Nono Avenue.

While on the call, Officer Uebel was approached by Officer Andrew Gilbert who alleged he almost ran him off the road while en route to the call. Officer Gilbert struck Officer Uebel and a physical altercation ensued between the two.

Officer Gilbert resigned from the MPD on Wednesday, according a news release sent Friday night from Police Public Information Officer Jami Gaudet. Internal Affairs Unit continues to investigate this matter.
