Macon police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers were called to the Family Dollar at 160 Emery Highway and roped off the building with yellow crime scene tape to keep customers out while they gathered evidence.

A white man, wearing a blue jacket, sunglasses and dark cap, picked up a candy bar as if to buy it and handed the cashier a note demanding money, according to a Macon police news release.

The robber fled with the candy and the cash.

No one was hurt in the incident.
