WARNER ROBINS -- A pedestrian struck on Ga. 96 in front of Houston County High School on Sunday night escaped serious injury, a Houston County sheriff’s traffic investigator says.

Shawna Sapp, 37, of Warner Robins, was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia after the 9:50 p.m. accident at Ga. 96 and Ark Park Drive, said Deputy William Mitchelson, who investigated the accident. Sapp was treated and released early Monday, he said.

Sapp had just retrieved a pair of sunglasses in the turn lane of Ga. 96 that had fallen off the motorcycle she and her husband were riding when she was struck by a 2013 Dodge Journey driven by Kerby Goff, 44, of Perry.

Goff, who was westbound on Ga. 96, did not see Sapp, Mitchelson said. Goff drove into the turn lane to avoid the motorcycle that its driver, Kevin Sapp, 39, had parked in the westbound roadway of Ga. 96, Mitchelson said.

No charges are expected in the accident, Mitchelson said.
