Summers Landing, Elberta Health Care and Peachbelt Health & Rehabilitation are excited to bring back the Bunco for the Brain fundraiser for the second consecutive year.
Our first year, we sold out of advance tickets and raised nearly $4,000, said Allison Gatliff, senior living advisor for Summers Landing. All of the money raised is for the Alzheimers Association of Central Georgia to benefit local families who are living with Alzheimers disease. We are dedicating the evening to all the caregivers who work so hard to take care of the people they love. We want to give back to them a little of what they give to others.
The Saturday night event is the brainchild of Keri LaRosa, admissions director at the three facilities.
Doors will open at 6:30 (p.m.) and we will have lots of delicious appetizers and drinks for the guests, Gatliff said. The food is provided as donations from people who have been affected by Alzheimers. It will be elegant, heavy appetizers and promises to be very tasty.
Bunco is a social dice game involving mostly luck, and Bunco for the Brain features several ways to win prizes.
We will have a variety of auction items for the silent auction, including several different bags from Vera Bradley, date night packages, limited edition pottery and autographed books, items for the home and decorations. We will also have a 50-50 raffle with a variety of door prizes throughout the night, Gatliff said. Door prizes include everything from oil changes to things for the beach. There are a number of different local businesses that have donated gift certificates. There are also surprises that are new this year that we dont want to give away, yet.
The mistress of ceremonies will be Gena DeBoe, who owns Gena Jayne the Chic Boutique.
She is our presenting sponsor. This is her second year and we are so grateful to her and all that she does to support our community, Gatliff said.
Although tickets have to be purchased in advance, there are a few tickets still remaining, but youd better hurry.
I believe we will sell out again. This is a fabulous event and we look forward to seeing everyone come out to support us, Gatliff said. Our ability to support caregivers can make such a huge difference in their lives and in the lives of the people they are caring for.
