Macon's Russell Henley got off to a rough start in his first British Open round on Thursday and finished 12 shots behind leader Zach Johnson.

Henley bogeyed the first two holes on his way to a 7-over-par 78 and is tied for 119th. Johnson has the lead at 5 under. Henley has missed the cut in the year's first two majors.

After his bogey-bogey start, he reeled off five straight pars before finishing the front nine with a double-bogey and another bogey. After three more pars to start the back nine, he had his fourth bogey and another double-bogey to sit at 8 over.

He got a shot back with his only birdie on the par-15 17th.

Henley will tee off in the second round at 2:49 a.m. on Friday.
