Carrie Preston took center stage at Theater Macon in November 2009 to talk about her career in movies and stage. She described her most unusual audition and her conviction that stage training was the best preparation for motion pictures.

Actress Carrie Preston, who grew up in Macon, has been nominated for a 2013 Emmy in the guest actress in a drama category for her recurring role on the CBS drama “The Good Wife.”

The complete list of Emmy nominees was announced Thursday morning.

It’s the first Emmy nomination for Preston, who also stars on HBO’s “True Blood” and has appeared on the CBS action series “Person of Interest,” which stars her husband, actor Michael Emerson.

Preston, who plays quirky attorney Elsbeth Tascioni on “The Good Wife,” will be competing against Margo Martindale (“The Americans”); Diana Rigg (“Game of Thrones”); Linda Cardellini (“Mad Men”); Jane Fonda (“The Newsroom”); and Joan Cusack (“Shameless”).

The 65th Annual Emmy Awards will be broadcast Sept. 22 on CBS, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.
