Macon City Councilman Charles Jones has been in the hospital for several days, but he said Tuesday night he expected to be released that evening or Wednesday morning.
Jones, 59, said he went to the hospital with acid reflux problems and high blood pressure, and received a full battery of medical tests. No further problems turned up, he said.
A heart attack in 2008 made his doctors wary enough to check everything, Jones said.
It did me good to come here, but that acid reflux can make you think youre dying, he said.
Other council members said at Tuesday nights council meeting that he was in The Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Jones, who has represented the citys Ward 4 since 1999, is running for the District 8 seat on the Macon-Bibb County consolidated commission which is to be elected Sept. 17. He plans to be out there on the campaign trail soon after his release, he said.
