Local Little League teams prevail Sunday

It was a successful day for Middle Georgia’s Little League teams Sunday in state tournament action.

In the state softball tournament for 11- and 12-year-olds, Dudley defeated Bartow County 5-2 in its opener Sunday. Dudley is scheduled to take on Toccoa at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in Savannah.

Dudley is also off to a 2-0 start in the state baseball tournament for 10-and-11-year-olds in Peachtree City. Dudley opened Saturday with a 17-4 win over Toccoa and followed that up Sunday with a 17-1 victory over Murphey-Candler. Dudley will take on Cartersville at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Warner Robins American Little League East defeated Masters City 7-4 in the 9-10 baseball tournament in Lavonia. WRALL East will take on Hart County at 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

Western’s 9-and-10-year-old softball team, which won its opener Saturday, will take on Columbus Northern at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in Columbus.
