A suspect was tased Saturday evening after leading authorities on a high speed chase through Macon and Bibb County.

Andrae Demarcus Miller, 33, of Village Green Lane was arrested in a brief foot chase after crashing his Jeep Cherokee into a chain-link fence on Pearson Circle off Allen Road, said Cpl. Kevin Pope of the Georgia State Patrol.

Pope said he performed a PIT maneuver to bring to a halt the chase that exceeded 100 mph on Interstate 75.

At about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Miller began fleeing from the Macon police STRIKE team on Pio Nono Avenue near Eisenhower Parkway, went southbound on the interstate and exited at Hartley Bridge Road.

“I heard Macon police say he was throwing narcotics out of the window,” Pope said.

The trooper got directly behind Miller once the chase neared Houston Road.

“He was on the other side of the road, darting around cars and almost hit some head-on,” Pope said.

Miller was initially wanted on a child support enforcement bench warrant, but now faces multiple other charges including eluding police, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane and stop at a stop sign, driving too fast for conditions, driving without a license and violating the open container law.
