A Macon man remained jailed Friday, charged with the robbery of a man at the Villager Lodge who was hit with a handgun.
Samuel Mathis Dixon III was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center at 11:30 a.m. Friday on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault.
The victim in the case -- who was robbed about 4:30 a.m. Sunday -- said hed gone to visit a friend staying at the Harrison Road motel and was on his way back to his car when he was attacked. The victim said four to five men dressed in all black approved his car and demanded money. One of them with a handgun struck him with it.
The robbers took the victims money and other items from his car. He was treated for minor injuries at The Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Bibb County sheriffs Lt. Sean DeFoe said investigators believe it was Dixon who hit the victim with the handgun. Investigators are still looking for other people who may have been involved in the incident.
No bond had been set for Dixon on Friday afternoon.
