Kody Lucas, the Perry High School graduate who died about one year ago after a five-year battle with brain cancer, will be remembered and honored Saturday.
Melodies and Memories: A Night to Remember Kody Lucas is a way for the Perry community to honor Lucas legacy while raising money for Chords of Kindness, a fund in honor of Lucas under the umbrella of the cancer foundation, Jays HOPE.
Chords of Kindness raises money for local families battling cancer. Lucas mother, Donna Moss, said the fund gives families money for food or gas, prepaid gift cards, and provides lunch and cupcakes at childrens hospitals.
Melodies and Memories, taking place at Southern Bridle Farms, will include music by the Grapevine, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. The silent auction will have something for everyone, Moss said, including tickets to Zoo Atlanta and the Georgia Aquarium, gift cards, jewelry and paintings.
Were excited for this event, said Moss. Its really a way to channel the grief of his loss, a way we can do something positive with the grief.
Moss said she wanted to help people just like she and her family were helped during her sons fight with cancer.
Kody, he loved this community, and this community loved him, she said.
