A meeting to help design a public skateboarding park for Macon-Bibb County will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, in the gym of the Rosa Jackson Commuity Center, 1121 Maynard St.

The Bibb County Board of Commissioners is sponsoring the meeting, at which skateboarders can talk about what features they’d like to see in a skate park. Representatives of Joplin, Mo.-based American Ramp Company, a leading skate park designer, will moderate the meeting.

County Parks & Recreation Director Dale “Doc” Dougherty has said a skate park should be built, and the county has the opportunity since $39 million for recreation work will be available from the sales tax voters approved in November 2011.
