National Weather Service warns of strong winds in Middle Georgia

With torrential rain pouring in Macon, the National Weather Service has issued a warning about strong winds in Middle Georgia.

Winds of 35 mph are expected in Twiggs, Putnam, Monroe, Jones, Wilkinson, Baldwin and Bibb counties until about 8:30 p.m.

Shortly after 8 p.m. a strong thunderstorm was over Dry Branch, moving northwest at 35 mph.

Communities in the storm's path include Gordon, Ripley, Myricks Mill, Fitzpatrick, Huber, Dry Branch, Ivey, Franklinton, Cross Keys, Mountain Springs, Griswoldville, Payne City, Greenberry Crossroads and James.
