WARNER ROBINS -- The weather and field conditions werent good.
But Bryant Beall was.
Beall struck out 11 and threw a complete-game no-hitter as Vine Ingle Little League beat Warner Robins American East 1-0 Wednesday in the District 5 11-12 baseball tournament.
Vine Ingle manager Michael Taylor had quite the understatement.
Our pitcher was on, he said.
It was Bealls second no-hitter of the summer and first of the postseason. He got all the offense he needed from Hilton Becks homer off of East pitcher Darius Clarington. The game was stopped for about 30 minutes because of lightning.
Vine Ingle will face Warner Robins American West at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. And Vine Ingle will have to beat West twice for the title. A third game, if necessary, will be Saturday.
Were going to have to play our best baseball so far, Taylor said of the opponent -- coached by Brad King, Buddy Deal and Randy Jones -- in the championship game.
Deal and Jones have both been to the Little League World Series.
In the past three games, Vine Ingle has given up three runs and had no errors in the field.
Nearby, Dudley and Warner Robins American battled in the 11-12 softball tournament with threatening weather.
The game was delayed because of lightning, and Dudley ended up winning 2-0 to win the district championship.
The 10-11 championship game between Warner Robins American Little League West and Dudley Little League was scheduled for 8:30 Wednesday, but was postponed until noon on Friday due to field conditions and lightning.
