WARNER ROBINS -- Mario Hughes pitched a complete game as the Warner Robins American Little League East All-Stars beat Vine Ingle 6-4 on Saturday to win the District 5 9-10-year-old championship.

Hughes threw 71 pitches, including 57 strikes.

“We played a really good team,” Warner Robins manager Mark Ringer said.

Warner Robins led 6-0 going into the top of the fifth inning, but Vine Ingle came back and scored four runs in the next two innings to make it a game.

“We didn’t lose the game; we ran out of time,” Vine Ingle manager Mike Green said.

Warner Robins started strong, leading 3-0 after the first inning after a double from Gage Harrelson, which scored Cliff Pless. Catcher AJ Simpson also added two RBI in the second. Warner Robins advances to the state tournament, which starts in two weeks in Franklin County.

“I’m really proud of each and every one of these kids,” Ringer said.
