Little League district schedules set

The road to the Little League World Series is beginning for the teams taking part in the District 5 tournaments.

The 11-12 year-old baseball and softball teams that are hoping to end up in Williamsport, Pa., and Portland, Ore., respectively, begin their tournaments Friday. The baseball tournament will be played at Warner Robins American, while the softball tournament is scheduled for Western in Macon.

In baseball, the first-round pairings pit Vine Ingle vs. Western, while Dudley will face Warner Robins American West. Warner Robins American East gets a bye and will face the Vine Ingle-Western winner, while Macon/Ocmulgee gets a bye to face the Dudley-Warner Robins American West winner.

In the 10-11 baseball tournament, the first-round games to be played Friday are Western against Dudley and Warner Robins American East playing Warner Robins American West. Vine Ingle plays the winner of Western-Dudley.

The 9-10 baseball tournament started Friday with Dudley against Vine Ingle American and Warner Robins American West against Warner Robins American East.

The 9-10 softball tournament first round, which will be played Friday, pits Western against Warner Robins American West and Warner Robins American East against Macon/Ocmulgee.
