A Monroe County Sheriff’s Office jail secretary is suspended after deputies found a dead dog and another without food or water at her home last week.

Angel J. Aldridge, 34, was arrested Tuesday on misdemeanor cruelty to animals, according to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 17, deputies inspected the property after a neighbor requested a house check, the release stated.

The surviving dog, which appeared to be malnourished, was turned over to Monroe County Animal Control.

“She resides there and the dogs were under her care,” Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Allison Selman-Willis stated in an email Tuesday evening.

Aldridge was released on her own recognizance shortly after her arrest.

She will remain on suspension while the incident is investigated, the release stated.
