For the third time this week, a Lamar County football player has committed to Georgia Tech.

Defensive back Quay Searcy committed to the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, two days after his high school teammates Lawrence and Lance Austin committed to Georgia Tech.

Searcy finished his junior season with 65 tackles, three interceptions and three forced fumbles. He had nine interceptions as a sophomore, but teams stopped throwing his way last season. He was the Region 4-AA Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Searcy also had an offer from South Carolina.

Lamar County went 12-1-1 last season, losing to Calhoun in the state semifinals.
