Man killed in late-night Monroe County wreck

June 19, 2013

A Conyers man was killed in a three-vehicle traffic accident late Tuesday on Interstate 75 in Monroe County.

Christopher Vesely, 42, was headed north in a Lincoln Town Car when he apparently lost control of the car and veered two lanes over near mile marker 182, according to a news release.

As the car crossed the other lanes of traffic, it was struck by a tractor-trailer. The car then struck the median wall and was struck by a second tractor-trailer. The car was pinned between the two tractor-trailers.

Vesely, who was wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the GBI crime lab in Atlanta.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. Deputies said the road was wet from recent rains, but it was not raining when the accident happened.

At least two lanes of traffic were blocked on the interstate until around 1 a.m. Wednesday while the accident scene was cleared.
