Funeral for Towson set for Monday

Funeral services for former Superior Court Judge William Malcolm Towson Sr. will be held Monday.

The 90-year-old Dublin resident died Thursday.

Visitation will be held at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Sunday. Towson’s funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Thad Haygood, Jack Key and Jimmy Towson officiating. Burial will be at Dublin Memorial Gardens.

Towson graduated from the University of Georgia. He was a state legislator for four years, a State Court judge for nine years and a Superior Court judge for 23 years. Towson also practiced law in Dublin from 1949-1977.

He was a World War II veteran and was active in several civic organizations. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dublin.
