Lawrence Crouch had just returned from taking his roommate to a medical appointment when his 1994 Cadillac went up in flames.
The dog was barking and the neighbor was at the door talking about, Your car is on fire, Crouch said as he watched firefighters outside his house in the 800 block of Boulevard.
Flames were shooting from the bottom of the car as he called 911 shortly after 6 a.m.
Underneath of it was on fire. I mean, it was more on the ground than in the car, but it was smoking, Crouch said.
When Macon-Bibb County firefighters arrived the engine compartment was fully aflame.
Crews quickly extinguished the blaze, but not before the Sedan DeVille was damaged beyond repair.
Crouch told firefighters he only had liability insurance on the car, which hadnt given him any trouble recently except an occasionally sticking gas pedal.
But I recently added towing, he said, realizing he could sell it for scrap.
