Sun News picks all Houston-Peach soccer teams

It’s hard to imagine that this wasn’t the Houston-Peach area’s best-ever season for high school soccer. Most of the teams were competitive, and several came away with noteworthy firsts.

The Peach County boys won a playoff soccer match for the first time. The Veterans girls became the first local team to play in a playoff semifinal. The next night, the Houston County boys did the Lady Warhawks one better, qualifying for the Class AAAAA title match. The Bears lost to perennial power McIntosh, but it was hard to be disappointed.


Player of the Year: Everick Little, Houston County: The recent graduate signed a letter of intent to play at Georgia State University. His versatility made him a vital component in the Bears’ drive to the Class AAAAA title match.

GK: Austin Maddox, Northside: Junior recorded 112 saves.

FW: Matt Monday, Warner Robins: Demons’ top scoring threat returns for a senior season.

FW: Stephen Moore, Houston County: Sophomore is a consummate finisher.

FW: Isaac Rivera, Northside: Led Eagles in scoring as a junior.

MF: Colin Little, Houston County: The “heart and soul” of the team, according to head coach.

MF: Andrew Weber, Houston County: Also headed to Georgia State, Weber is savvy and confident on the ball.

MF: Daniel Ward, Perry: Head coach called the junior “the heartbeat of our team.”

MF: Parker Shaw, Warner Robins: Junior was the Demons’ assist leader.

MF: Alfredo Cervantes, Peach County: Trojans’ senior MVP led Peach to first-ever playoff win.

FB: Dillon Garrett, Veterans: Poise and skill in the back by this junior.

FB: Bryce Struckmeyer, Perry: junior anchored defense that yielded just 20 goals

FB: Drew Behrman, Houston County: Senior tied for team lead in assists.

FB: Sean Joiner, Veterans: Senior wore captain’s arm band for Warhawks.

FB: Will Pospicil, Houston County: Future bright for this sophomore.
