Green Bay Packers’ Casey Hayward to be grand marshal of Perry Independence Parade

Casey Hayward of the Green Bay Packers will be the grand marshal for this year’s Independence Parade in Perry, the chamber of commerce announced Tuesday.

Hayward grew up in Perry and played football at Perry High School. He also played at Vanderbilt.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be the grand marshal of this parade for my hometown,” Hayward said in a news release from the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce. “The city of Perry means so much to me and everyone there as well.”

This year’s Independence Parade will take place at 6:30 p.m. June 30. The parade will conclude with free music by Campbell Airlines and fireworks at 7:30 p.m. at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter. The fireworks finale will begin at 9:30 p.m. There also will be activities for children.
