A Monroe County woman leaving work Friday night died after she was struck by two vehicles on Riverside Drive just east of Pierce Avenue.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones identified the victim as Vanessa Rozier, a 46-year-old beautician from Culloden.
According to a police new release, Rozier turned onto Riverside Drive about 10:30 p.m. and noticed she might have left her day planner on top of her vehicle. She stopped in the inside westbound lane and exited her vehicle to retrieve the documents that had fallen on the road.
Witnesses told police she was standing in the inside eastbound lane of Riverside retrieving the papers with her back toward traffic, turned and stepped into the path of a 2003 Mazda in the outside eastbound lane.
Rozier was struck by that vehicle and then hit by a second one, according to the release. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jones said Roziers son was killed in a car wreck just a couple of years ago.
