Two men arrested in Macon drug bust

Macon police arrested an accused burglar and alleged drug dealer in a Thursday afternoon drug bust in the 2300 block of Knott Street.

The drug unit and the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 53-year-old Larry Matthews and 50-year-old Ferdinand James Williams while officers were serving a search warrant in the neighborhood between Anthony Road and Ell Street.

Officers seized 87 pieces of crack cocaine -- valued at $870, a bag of marijuana, digital scale and a Saiga .223 caliber assault style rifle and magazine, according to a Macon police news release.

In Matthews’ 23rd arrest in Bibb County, he was charged with burglary, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, Superior Court probation violation, giving false information to police and being present where drugs are kept, used or sold.

Williams, who was arrested for the 33rd time in Bibb County, was charged with firearm possession by a convicted felon, marijuana possession with intent to distribute and cocaine possession with intent to distribute.
