A McDonough man died early Tuesday after the vehicle he was riding in wrecked in Monroe County, and the driver has been charged with driving under the influence and vehicular homicide.
Michael Wayne Lindler, 56, was partially ejected from the passenger side window of a 1999 Chevy Silverado truck driven by Jonathan Elijah Watson, 46, on Ga. 42 near Blount Road. According to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriffs Office, Watson drove off the road and overcorrected about 1:30 a.m. The truck overturned, and Lindler was ejected.
Lindler was pronounced dead on the scene. Watson, also from the McDonough area, sustained injuries and was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia for treatment. Neither man was wearing a seat belt, according to the release.
Authorities are still investigating.
