The interim provost and vice president of academic affairs at Georgia College & State University will be leaving the Milledgeville college to become the first provost of Hawaii Pacific University.

Matthew A. Liao-Troth will begin his new job July 15 at Hawaii Pacific University. Liao-Troth also has been the dean of the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business at Georgia College, a position he took in 2010.

“It is a great college of business,” he said, adding the college’s online Master of Business Administration program is nationally ranked, “and I had the privilege of sharing their successes with the rest of the world.”

Liao-Troth has nearly two decades of higher education experience. He previously was chairman of the Department of Management and director of graduate business programs at Western Washington University. He also led the American Humanics program at DePaul University, according to a news release.

Liao-Troth is a regular business columnist for The Telegraph.
