Police arrest two men in robbery of Vineville restaurant diners, match shoe left at crime scene

Staff reportMay 9, 2013

Two women were eating lunch Wednesday on the patio at Fountain of Juice on Vineville Avenue about 1:50 p.m. when a man came up to them to ask for directions to Zebulon Road.

Turns out he wanted more than directions.

While they were assisting him, another man -- his accomplice -- snuck up during the conversation and grabbed one of their purses, according to a Macon police report.

One of the women got out of her seat and pushed the man who grabbed the purse, and one of his shoes fell off.

The men ran off and the women ran after them.

One of the suspects turned around and pointed a gun at the women and told them to stop, the report stated.

The men got into a car and drove off and a clerk from the restaurant chased after the vehicle on foot, getting the tag number of the gold Honda Civic they were driving.

Police were given a vehicle description and the tag number, and it was located on Wren Avenue not long after the incident. The driver, Markeas Hill, and passenger, Kedrick Hicks, were taken into custody. The matching shoe from the crime scene was found in the vehicle.

Both men were charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.
