Perry approves drainage work, budget hearing dates

Storm drainage improvements on Perry’s Cherokee Road will begin soon after City Council approved a contractor for the project Tuesday, according to City Manager Lee Gilmour.

Gilmour said council approved a $20,000 contract to widen the pipes on the road to help avoid flooding of yards during heavy rains such as in recent weeks.

Also at the meeting, City Council set the dates departments and outside agencies that receive city funding will present budget proposals for fiscal 2014. The review hearings are part of the city’s annual budget process to help council determine the final figures.

They will be held at 5 p.m. May 13, May 20 and June 3.

The budget must be approved before the new fiscal year begins July 1.
