According to the Associated Press, Georgia Tech’s first game against Georgia Southern has been moved up one year to 2014.

The schedule change was announced by Georgia Tech on Tuesday, and it will fill a vacancy in the Yellow Jackets’ 2014 schedule. Georgia Southern is also moving up to FBS play that season as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.

The game will be the first between the two in-state programs. They originally agreed to play in 2015.

Georgia Southern head coach Jeff Monken formerly was an assistant coach at Georgia Tech, while Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson was formerly the head coach at Georgia Southern.
