The Georgia Department of Transportation expects major road work to cause traffic delays on northbound Interstate 75 Tuesday night in Macon.

Two lanes of I-75 will close between Eisenhower Parkway and Hardeman Avenue between 7 p.m. and midnight Tuesday, if weather permits.

Crews will be removing and installing a new sign in

the northbound lanes, according to a GDOT news release.

Motorists should also expect a lane closure overnight farther north approaching the Arkwright Road exit.

Construction workers will shift lane barriers between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday to allow for a new traffic configuration in the northbound construction zone.

Lanes will be affected from Red Oak Bridge through the Sabbath Creek Bridge.

Once the new lanes are in place, the temporary off ramp at Arkwright Road will be removed and the road will be re-striped for the new traffic pattern.
