Police: Alcohol a factor in fatal Houston County accident

Staff reportMay 5, 2013

Two people are dead following an accident after midnight Saturday on Houston Lake Road at Wrasling Way.

Evelena L. Bonner Adams, 34, and passenger Demarko Oshay Howard, 35, were traveling northbound -- in the southbound lanes -- on Houston Lake Road in a 1992 Lincoln Towncar at 2:09 a.m. They collided head on with a 1992 Honda Passport driven by Samantha Marie Scroggins, 25, who was traveling in the southbound lane.

Adams and Howard died at the scene of the crash and Scroggins was extricated from her vehicle and transported to The Medical Center of Central Georgia with serious injuries, according to a news release from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

Scroggins was in fair condition Monday, said hospital spokeswoman Janie Poulnott.

Alcohol is considered a factor, the news release stated.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the sheriff’s office Traffic Division at 542-2080.
