Macon's Russell Henley fired a 3-under-par 69 on Thursday in the first round of the Quail Hollow Championship.

Henley, who finished in the top 10 in his most recent PGA Tour start at the RBC Heritage, had four birdies and one bogey in Thursday's round. He birdied three of his first five holes to get out of the gates quickly.

After a bogey on his seventh hole, Henley had one birdie and 10 pars the rest of the way, finishing with seven straight pars.

Henley, who is playing with Kevin Streelman and John Merrick in the first two rounds, tees off at 7:40 a.m. on Friday.
