The Georgia Department of Labor is holding a job readiness kickoff this week, and job seekers will not only get help with their resume but they also will get an early-admission ticket to a Career Expo later this month.
The kickoff will be held from noon until 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Virginia College, 1900 Paul Walsh Drive, according to news release. Everyone attending the job readiness event will receive a ticket for early admission to the Career Expo on May 14 and the first chance to meet with potential employers before the doors open to the general public.
The event this week includes sessions to help the unemployed or under-employed to market themselves for a new career and help them succeed at job fairs like the Career Expo, the release stated. Attendees also will have the opportunity to get hands-on assistance in developing their own social media pages, creating personal business cards for their job search and developing their own 30-second commercial to market themselves for a new career opportunity. Job seekers also can participate in a mock interview.
Representatives from a number of community resource agencies will be at the job readiness event, including personnel with the federal workforce investment group, veterans services and Virginia College, the release stated.
