UPDATE: Some power restored, lines still down in east Macon outage

lfabian@macon.comApril 29, 2013

Nearly 800 residents of east Macon lost electricity at about 4 a.m. Monday after thunderstorms moved through overnight.

Macon 911 reports downed power lines are still blocking Hawthorne and Briarcliff roads near Twin Pines Drive in the Shirley Hills neighborhood.

A public works crew has removed the fallen tree, and Georgia Power crews are working to restore the lines.

As of 4:45 a.m., the utility company’s Twitter feed reported 1,000 customers were out across the state, with 780 of those in the Macon area.

Most of those outages have been restored.
